With a proud company history dating back to brothers Rex and Cromie Mc Candless* and a small motorcycle repair shop in Belfasts Fulton Street in 1945, the name of WAC Mc Candless(Engineers) LTD is now firmly established as one of the major distributors of construction equipment in Ireland.
Sixty years ago, motorcycles and light engineering spawned an interest in construction equipment. The acquisition and subsequent growth of famous brands like NCK-Rapier, Rob Roy, Yale and Ingersoll Rand soon necessitated a move to larger premises on the Limestone Road where the company acquired the Komatsu agency in 1961. Acquired by its present owners in 1979, WAC Mc Candless still trades there to this day.
As the sole distributor in Northern Ireland for Komatsu construction equipment and one of the manufacturers longest established dealers in Europe, WAC Mc Candless has seen its Komatsu representation grow from bulldozers and tracked shovels to cover a range of equipment that now spans almost 300 models of excavators, compact plant, wheeled loaders, bulldozers, telehandlers, articulated dump trucks and hydraulic hammers. One of Irelands fastest growing dealerships, the company holds market leading shares of the excavator, bulldozer and rigid dump truck sectors.
For over 50 years, the companys number one priority has been excellence in customer support, a priority which continues to this day with a dedicated team of factory trained workshop based and mobile support engineers.
