PC14-PC16: Mini excavators maximise productivity 19/07/2006
At Intermat 2006, Komatsu will introduce two new 1.5-2 ton mini excavators to the European market. The PC14R-2 and PC16R-2 deliver outstanding productivity and operator comfort. Particularly targeting the rental sector, they are suited to a wide range of applications including gardening, road maintenance and small-scale demolition.
The new machines supplement Komatsu’s MR-2 mini excavator range. However, unlike the MR-2 machines, they have a conventional tail design providing outstanding stability for their weight and compact size (maximum width of 1 m). Both models are available with a variable undercarriage allowing them to pass through the narrowest passages while maintaining stability during digging.
The new mini excavators feature the well-known closed centre load sensing (CLSS) hydraulic system. This guarantees fast and precise control of all movements whatever the load and engine speed, even during simultaneous operations.
Productivity is not just a result of machine performance. So Komatsu has paid particular attention to the needs of the people who operate the machine. Despite their small size, the PC14R-2 and PC16R-2 provide an extremely spacious working environment and are comfortable for drivers of any size. Customers can choose between a two-pole canopy or closed cab. The two-pole canopy offers unrivalled accessibility and visibility of the working area. The closed-cab versions feature a sliding door for easy access even when working close to obstacles.
Komatsu has also designed the machines to be easily maintainable. The opening bonnet provides quick access to all parts needing regular inspection. For larger maintenance tasks, the cab / canopy tilts up to reveal all the major components.
