Komatsu expands undercarriage manufacturing facility
01/07/2007

Komatsu has opened a new extension to its dedicated undercarriage manufacturing facility Komatsu Undercarriage Indonesia (KUI). KUI produces undercarriage components for Komatsu OEM and, increasingly, for the after-sales market. The expansion significantly increases its capacity, doubling factory space to 9600 m2 and increasing the workforce by over 25%.

KUI was originally established in November 2000. It began producing link assemblies in April 2001 and has consistently expanded its capacity and range of component types manufactured. Its current range includes track link assemblies, rollers, idlers and sprockets with an annual capacity of 12,000 link assemblies and over 160,000 rollers. In February 2006, KUI produced its 20,000th link assembly.

Manufacturing Komatsu Genuine Undercarriage components for bulldozers and excavators, KUI has developed a strong reputation for high quality. This reputation is due to state-of-the-art production facilities and rigorous quality assurance procedures. Moreover, all parts are individually marked to ensure complete traceability throughout the supply chain, maximising customer’s peace of mind.

Komatsu Forging is located immediately adjacent to KUI and employs 550 people. It forges, heat-treats and machines the link (the main component of the link assembly) for KUI and other Komatsu production facilities.
